Japanese skateboarder Yuto Horigome claimed victory in the men’s skateboard street best trick event at the X Games California. This impressive win was secured on his eighth and final attempt, where he executed a nollie backside 270 nose slide, stunning the crowd and judges alike. Horigome, who is also a Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, finished ahead of American skateboarders Braden Hoban and Nyjah Huston.
Horigome expressed his elation about nailing his last attempt and stated that performing a big trick was a bigger motivation for him than winning a medal. His recent victory is not solitary. Apart from this, Horigome also emerged victorious at Uprising Tokyo, further cementing his status as one of the top skateboarders in the world.
Young Prodigies in Women’s Street Final
The women’s street final saw exceptional performances from young skateboarders. Fourteen-year-old Liz Akama from Japan secured the silver medal, while Tokyo Olympic winner Momiji Nishiya won bronze. However, the top spot was claimed by 13-year-old Chloe Covell of Australia.
Covell scored an impressive 90.00 with her third and final run, surpassing Akama’s score of 87.66 and Nishiya’s score of 86.66. Being on the podium in her first X Games overseas was a significant achievement for Akama, who expressed her joy and considered it a remarkable memory to be at the top of the standings.
