Asia Lions, captained by Shahid Afridi, booked their spot in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) final in Qatar by defeating India Maharajas by 85 runs on Saturday.
Led by former Pakistan international bowlers, the Lions put up an impressive performance after setting a target of 192 runs for the Maharajas. The Lions bowlers were on fire and bowled out the Gautam Gambhir-led side for just 106 runs, with two wickets each from Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Hafeez, and Abdur Razzaq. Gambhir was the top-scorer for Maharajas with 32 runs.
Earlier, opener Upul Tharanga set the tone for the Asia Lions by scoring a quick fifty off just 31 balls. Asghar Afghan and Mohammad Hafeez chipped in with 34 and 38 runs respectively to help the Lions reach a total of 191-5 in their 20 overs.
Stuart Binny and Pragyan Ojha grabbed two wickets each for India Maharajas, but it was not enough to stop the Lions from securing a comfortable victory.
The LLC final between the Asia Lions and World Giants will take place on March 20.
