Flygate: The McCaw Family’s Humorous Encounter on a Flight to the Rugby World Cup

A Family Trip Turned Humorous Incident
A recent family trip to France took a humorous turn for the McCaw family, which includes former Black Sticks player Gemma McCaw and All Blacks legend Richie McCaw. Their journey, intended to support the All Blacks at the Rugby World Cup, was disrupted by an unusual incident on the plane. A rogue foot from the passenger behind them found its way onto one of their children’s chairs.
Footgate Unfolds on Social Media
Gemma McCaw documented the peculiar situation on her Instagram account, humorously dubbing the incident as “footgate”. She posted videos of the intrusive foot and asked her followers for their opinions. Should they be okay with the situation or should they address it? Despite the bizarre situation, Gemma McCaw maintained a light-hearted approach, using humor to navigate through the awkward incident.
Family Involvement in Footgate
The McCaws’ eldest daughter, Charlotte, born in 2018, also participated. She was filmed while writing a note asking the unrelated foot-owner to please remove their foot. Eventually, a flight attendant had to intervene and ask the passenger to remove their foot from the seat. This intervention brought much relief to the McCaw family.
Keeping Followers Updated
Throughout the incident, Gemma McCaw kept her followers updated. Her husband Richie, however, remained silent about the situation on his social media accounts. The McCaw couple, parents of three children, managed to maintain their spirits high despite the unexpected interruption to their journey.
Carrying on with the Journey
After the ‘footgate’ incident, the McCaw family continued their journey to France to support the All Blacks at the Rugby World Cup. The humorous encounter on the plane did not dampen their spirits; instead, it added a bit of unexpected entertainment to their trip.
