German Aid Cycling Team’s Dawit Yemane Tesfay Triumphs at the 11th Tour of Poyang Lake

A Riveting Race Across Jiangxi Province
The 11th edition of the Tour of Poyang Lake, a prestigious cycling race that spans across Jiangxi Province, culminated on September 19 in Shangyou County. The event, which extended over 12 thrilling days, saw the German Aid Cycling Team’s Dawit Yemane Tesfay clinching the victory.
The competition was conducted from September 8 to 19, encompassing 11 districts and cities across the province. The race stretched a total of 2,941 kilometers, with actual racing distance being 1,101 kilometers and a transition distance of 1,840 kilometers. The event drew in over 100 riders from more than 20 countries and regions, all vying for the total prize money and appearance fees of one million yuan.
The Final Stage and Overall Victory
The final stage of the 11th Tour of Poyang Lake was held in Shangyou County, with a race distance of 129.9 kilometers. Nicholas Kergozou De La Boessière from the St. George Continental Cycling Team of Australia emerged victorious in this final stage.
However, the overall individual champion, owing to his impressive performance in the previous stages, was Dawit Yemane Tesfay from the German Aid Cycling Team. The victory was a testament to his prowess and endurance. He expressed his elation at winning the race, thanking the friendly and enthusiastic people of Jiangxi and acknowledging the beautiful scenery. He described the win as a memorable experience and expressed hopes for more diverse awards in future races.
An International Recognition
The 11th Tour of Poyang Lake was sanctioned by the International Cycling Union and hosted by the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province. Significantly, this was the first time the race was included in the International Cycling Union’s Asian Tour (UCI2.2 level) and the Paris Olympic Points Race since its inception. This inclusion marked a crucial milestone in the race’s history and elevated its international standing.
The Tour of Poyang Lake continues to attract and inspire cyclists from around the world, paving the way for more exhilarating races in the future. The event’s successful conclusion this year has left cycling enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the next edition.
