Uganda’s President urges the Indian Community to increase investment

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni congratulated the Indian community on its 100th year in the nation and asked them to invest more in various industries, particularly fertilizer manufacturing.
“I congratulate the Indian community in Uganda on reaching 100 years,” Museveni stated in a video greeting posted to his Twitter account.
“The NRM regards Indians as wealth creators with whom we have a mutually beneficial relationship. They are our brothers and sisters, as well as Ugandans”, Museveni stated on Sunday.
The NRM (National Resistance Movement), led by the President, is Uganda’s main ruling party.
According to the Indian High Commission in Kampala, Indians have spent more than $1 billion in Uganda over the last two decades.
Museveni urged the Indian diaspora to invest in “untapped fields like fertilisers which have grown expensive as a result of the Russia-Ukraine stalemate” and claimed that Uganda is “calm, pleasant, and open for investment.”
