The Argentine Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, highlighted the decision of the governments of Argentina and Brazil to move forward together in a process of energy integration.
Massa highlighted the growing process of energy integration between Argentina and Brazil that contemplates natural gas, hydroelectricity, biofuels, and renewable resources, in order to boost industrial growth and the supply of projects that benefit both countries.
Both Governments decided to set up a Working Group to deepen discussions on bilateral energy integration, including the natural gas market and the possibilities of joint development of the sector.
Massa stated that the objective is that the gas from Vaca Muerta reaches Brazil so that Brazilians can have access to the volume of gas they need and so that “we Argentines can have the opportunity to export part of what is our resource”.
Massa ratified that in the next 90 days, the second section of the Néstor Kirchner 1 gas pipeline will be tendered and, at the same time, progress will be made with the Salliqueló-San Jerónimo project, to explore infrastructure development and supply Rio Grande do Sul.
