The Supreme Court of India has ordered the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court to investigate allegations of unauthorized hiring of administrative staff. The complaint was filed by the J&K Peoples Forum, which claimed that proper selection processes were not followed during the appointment of staff members to the J&K High Court, Subordinate Courts, State Judicial Academy, Legal Services Authority, and the e-Court Mission Mode Project.

The petitioner alleged that some candidates were appointed through unofficial channels, bypassing the proper selection processes. The complaint further claimed that the relatives of existing staff members, as well as present and former judges of the High Court, were appointed without proper scrutiny.

The bench hearing the case consisted of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice P S Narasimha, and Justice J B Pardiwala. After hearing the allegations, the bench directed the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court to investigate the matter and submit a report to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court's order comes at a time when the Indian judiciary has been under intense scrutiny for its handling of various cases. The order is expected to bring transparency to the recruitment process in Jammu and Kashmir's judiciary and ensure that only deserving candidates are appointed to key positions.
