Spain announces new gender equality law

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced the gender equality law. The Equal Representation Act aims to bring gender equality in election lists, boards of directors of large companies, and boards of professional chambers.

Sanchez said the government has taken “a step not only in favor of feminism but in favor of the Spanish community as a whole.” Spain also passed a women’s paid period to leave and transgender rights bill last December.
