South Korea’s transport ministry will meet with the striking truckers union on Monday, according to a ministry official

A ministry official revealed on Saturday that the transport ministry of South Korea intends to hold talks with the union of striking truck drivers on Monday.
Thousands of unionized truckers went on strike for the second time in less than six months on Thursday, demanding better pay and working conditions. The action has already disrupted supply chains in the world’s tenth-largest economy, affecting automakers, cement manufacturers, and steel producers.
According to union officials, approximately 25,000 people have joined the strike, of nearly 420,000 total transport workers in South Korea. The transport ministry said nearly 6,700 people attended on Friday in about 160 locations across the country, down from 9,600 on Thursday.
