On Sunday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) officials submitted an application for security clearance to the Lahore district administration for a public rally scheduled for Tuesday in Lahore. The PTI Lawyers Wing submitted the application on behalf of the party.
It may be noted that earlier, the Lahore administration had denied permission for the PTI to hold a power show at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan. The District Commissioner (DC) Lahore had penned down a letter to PTI leader and former minister Hammad Azhar, refusing to grant permission for the rally.
However, the PTI remains hopeful that the rally will be allowed to proceed, and the party has sought security clearance from the district administration to ensure the safety of all participants.
Earlier on March 13, PTI chief Imran Khan had announced the party’s intention to hold a power show at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday, but the event did not receive the required permissions. The party has now rescheduled the event for Tuesday, pending approval from the district administration.
The upcoming rally is expected to draw a large crowd, and the PTI is hoping to use the event to mobilize support ahead of the upcoming elections. The party has been critical of the ruling government’s policies and has promised to bring about significant changes if elected to power.
In conclusion, the PTI’s efforts to secure permission for the public rally demonstrate the party’s commitment to democratic principles and the right to peaceful assembly. The party remains hopeful that the district administration will grant permission for the rally, allowing them to connect with their supporters and garner public support for their platform.
