Prime Minister affirms Vietnam's continued strong strategic partnership with Japan

Vietnam's Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, emphasized the country's strong strategic partnership with Japan during a reception for Japanese Minister of State for Financial Services, Suzuki Shunichi, in Hanoi on January 13th.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that many of Vietnam's projects have been supported by the Japanese government and expressed the country's commitment to creating a favourable environment for Japanese businesses to operate in.

He also mentioned that obstacles faced by some Japanese projects in Vietnam are being addressed to expedite their progress.

As the two countries prepare to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year, Prime Minister Chinh suggested holding practical activities to commemorate the occasion.

He also requested Japan's assistance in building the North-South Express Railway, restructuring capital contributions at the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical project, and particularly in managing digital transformation in customs, corporate bond and securities markets.

In response, Shunichi expressed his hope for more effective Japanese projects this year, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties. He also mentioned that both sides had reached a consensus on various issues, particularly promoting joint work in infrastructure development.

He also said that the Japanese side is actively working closely with Vietnam's concerned agencies to find the most effective solutions to the proposals made by the host.
