Nicolas Petro, the President Gustavo Petro's son has filed a complaint against his former wife, Dayssuris del Carmen Vásquez Castro, accusing her of engaging in identity theft.

A seven-page report was submitted to the Complaints Reception Unit of the National Police by Nicolas Petro's lawyer, David Teleki, formally accusing Vasquez of identity theft. The denounce states that significant harm was inflicted by Vasquez, who fraudulently used Petro's identity on the WhatsApp line and various social media platforms, despite not having his contact information.

In addition, Teleki issued a warning stating that he hereby report the aforementioned serious incidents to the appropriate authorities, in order for them to initiate the necessary criminal investigations. “These incidents involve the unlawful usurpation of identity through social networks, WhatsApp, and other applications. Additionally, there has been indiscriminate and criminal use of the phone number 304 6531842 by individuals who possess the means (such as line holders, key holders, and references) to access the WhatsApp application from various devices (such as mobile phones, tablets, computers, etc.). They have employed methods such as password manipulation, falsification, viruses, owner authorizations, barcodes, and QR codes to fraudulently impersonate or usurp the identity of Nicolas Petro Burgos. Their intention is to engage in deceptive conversations with third parties, aiming to mislead authorities, attribute false information, and obstruct the administration of justice”, the document stress.

Ex-wife's ownership of Petro's phone line raises suspicion in identity theft case

Furthermore, it has been specifically highlighted that Day Vasquez, the apparent owner of the Petro line, has continued to utilize it under her ex-husband's name.

According to the denounce, “the mobile subscriber number 304-653-18-42, which has been registered under the name of Mr. Nicolas Petro, is, in fact, owned by Mrs. Dayssuris Del Carmen Vásquez Castro (who appears to possess the access codes). Nicolas Petro Burgos has not used this line for several months, and individuals with access to the WhatsApp application have manipulated the content of chats and conversations.

Moreover, the lawyer Teleki emphasized that the woman herself admitted in an interview with a media outlet that she had possession of Petro's cell phone.

Months ago, the ex-wife of President Petro's son made accusations that he had received money from drug traffickers for his father's campaign, allegedly in return for including them in a government-led submission initiative.
