President Promises to Build Airport for Komandoo if Re-elected

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has made a significant pledge to the residents of Sh. Komandoo, promising to build an airport for the island if he is re-elected for a second term. The president, who is set to officially launch his re-election campaign, arrived in Komandoo and engaged with local residents to discuss their development needs and aspirations. During the gathering, President Solih received proposals from the residents, which included the construction of housing units, water and sanitation improvements, the development of resorts in neighboring islands, and the construction of a 30-bed mini-hospital. Development Plans for Komandoo and Mathikomandoo

He assured the residents that the construction work to link the two islands would commence soon, with the support of the state-run Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and their new dredger. The president announced that the dredger would arrive by the end of July, allowing for land reclamation between the islands as promised. Furthermore, he pledged to develop 300 housing units in Mathikomandoo and transform the health center in Komandoo into a 30-bed hospital during his second term.
