Polish Prime Minister Urges Stricter Penalties for Abuse, Considers Death Penalty

Premier Mateusz Morawiecki Takes Swift Action Following Tragic Death of Abused Child
In response to the recent heartbreaking death of eight-year-old Kamil, who suffered relentless abuse at the hands of his stepfather, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has instructed the Ministry of Justice to urgently address the issue of stricter penalties for perpetrators of human abuse, particularly involving children. The tragedy has prompted national outrage and demands for justice. Prime Minister Morawiecki emphasizes that there should be no mercy for such criminals and expresses his support for the reinstatement of the death penalty.
Prime Minister Morawiecki has informed the public that the Ministry of Justice will swiftly undertake the task of tightening the existing laws “without unnecessary delay.” The untimely demise of eight-year-old Kamil from Częstochowa occurred just a few days ago, following a period of intense suffering. Kamil had been undergoing medical treatment in a hospital since April 3rd. He was brutally beaten and tortured by his stepfather, who would burn him with cigarettes, scald him with boiling water, and even subject him to the searing heat of a coal stove. Shockingly, Kamil’s mother failed to protect her son, actively assisting her husband in the abuse and displaying no response to her child’s suffering.
The child’s injuries covered 25 percent of his body, including his entire face, torso, arms, and legs. The devastating case of Kamil is a stark reminder of the urgent need for stronger legislation and measures to combat abuse in Poland.
The Polish government has pledged to address the prevalent issue of abuse and ensure justice for victims. Stricter punishments, along with improved support systems for victims, are on the agenda. The proposed changes aim to deter potential abusers and protect the most vulnerable members of society.
