Fawad Chaudhry, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was ordered by a local court to undergo a medical examination on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in another development, the police arrested the brother of Fawad Chaudhary.
The Islamabad Police brought the PTI leader before Judge Rana Mudassir in Lahore’s Cantt under heavy security to seek a temporary remand to move the former Federal Minister to the Federal Capital.
The defence team for Fawad Chaudhry objected to handcuffing the former minister right away during the hearing. Chaudhry’s attorney argued before the court that the police should reveal the reason why his client was detained.
He also went on to say there was no need for transit remand. Fawad Chaudhry must undergo a medical test, the court ruled, and a transit remand is not necessary. The judge said that after a medical exam, he could be moved to Islamabad.
