During the Brazil Summit, Alberto Otarola, the Chief Minister of Peru, urged Colombian President Gustavo Petro to uphold the rights to peace and tranquility that have been attained in their nation.

In a statement provided to the media, Otarola reiterated their stance to Colombia, urging President Gustavo Petro to refrain from mentioning Peru in such a manner, as a tribute to the countless lives lost in both Colombia and Peru. The official emphasized the importance of respecting the hard-earned rights to peace and tranquility that their country has achieved. The minister, acting as a representative of President Dina Boluarte, traveled to Brazil to participate in the summit of South American presidents.

In relation to Mr. Petro's actions, Otarola stressed that anyone who undermines his country’s significant interests will be held accountable. However, beyond this ongoing dispute with Mr. Petro, the meeting has been productive.

During the ongoing Summit at Brasilia's Itamaraty Palace, the Council of Ministers expressed their appreciation for the Council of Ministers (PCM) for their dedication to South American integration. They highlighted that, from Brasilia, the President of the Council of Ministers conveyed Peru's desire to collaborate with Colombia on matters of security and defense. Furthermore, they stated that President Dina Boluarte shares a vision of promoting regional development and unity.

However, Boluarte, through a virtual presence, clarified that she was unable to attend the appointment in person due to the complexities of the internal regulations within the country.

"In establishing a common agenda, pragmatism should take precedence. It is crucial that the agreements reached are not merely declarative, but instead practical and quantifiable," Peruvian president expressed.

Lastly, she emphasized the need for a long-term approach in the integration process, ensuring the sustainability of South American integration for the years to come.
