Pentagon says Russia attempting to recover debris from downed US drone

The Pentagon has stated that it has indications that Russia is attempting to recover debris from a downed US drone, though it played down Moscow’s prospects for success.

Brigadier General Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon spokesperson, said that while there are indications that Russia is trying to recover MQ-9 debris, it is very unlikely that they would be able to recover anything useful.

According to a US official speaking anonymously, Russian ships have been seen in the area where the drone had crashed, though it is not clear whether they had recovered any parts of the drone.
