Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the current Speaker of the Nigeria lower chamber, has made it known that he intends to maintain his position as Speaker despite his recent appointment as the Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Tinubu. The announcement of his appointment as the President's new Chief of Staff was made public following an emergency meeting between President Tinubu and his APC governors.

Contrary to speculation, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has clarified that he has no immediate plans to resign from the Speakership position. He emphasized that he will continue to serve in this capacity until June 11, 2023, which marks the expiration of his tenure as Speaker. It is worth noting that his commitment to fulfilling his current role demonstrates his dedication to carrying out his responsibilities until the end of his term.

Transitioning to New Role: Gbajabiamila's Start Date as Chief of Staff

In anticipation of assuming his new position, Hon. Gbajabiamila has revealed that he will officially commence his duties as Chief of Staff to President Tinubu on June 14, 2023. This indicates that he will maintain his position as Speaker until the commencement of his new role. The clarification serves to alleviate any uncertainties surrounding the timing of his transition and ensures a smooth handover between his current responsibilities and the new appointment.
