A New Zealand government spokesperson said on Thursday that Prime Minister @jacindaardern expects to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday on the sidelines of the meeting of the Asia-Pacific trade group APEC.
The meeting is “currently confirmed,” according to a message from the spokesperson. It will be their first in-person meeting since 2019, though they spoke on the phone in 2021. Ardern traveled to Cambodia this week to attend the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) East Asia Summit, as well as two-way meetings and related events.
She spent the last few days in Vietnam attending trade and political meetings before heading to the APEC summit in Bangkok, Thailand.
