After a private meeting that lasted almost four hours at the National Palace, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Chilean President Gabriel Boric @gabrielboric held a joint conference.

The first to speak was the Chilean president, who said that Mexico is a very significant country for his people because it has opened its doors to entrepreneurs and artistic ambassadors, recalling the poet Gabriela Mistral.

Boric stressed that one of his objectives is to promote Chile as a “reliable” opportunity to diversify Mexican exports and imports, which are concentrated in the United States.

Boric invited López Obrador to attend the September 11 commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the coup in Chile, which led to the assassination of President Salvador Allende.

López Obrador assured that his government is carrying out a “peaceful transformation” as Allende taught. He also congratulated the Chilean people for electing Boric, as he described him as a “young, intelligent and sensitive” state leader.
