Russia’s Kremlin has rejected the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The warrant comes in response to charges of war crimes and the alleged abduction of children from Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, called the accusations “strange and unacceptable” and stated that Russia is not obligated to comply with the ICC’s ruling as it is not a member of the Rome Statute.
The Kremlin also dismissed the warrant, with Zakharova stating that the decision has “no importance.”
