
Kogi State Governorship Poll: Parties Express Confidence Ahead of November Contest

APC, PDP and SDP Ready for Kogi State Governorship Poll
In the upcoming November 11 governorship poll in Kogi State, Nigeria, leaders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have expressed confidence in their chances of success. The APC is rallying behind Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, the PDP is banking on Senator Dino Melaye, and the SDP is supporting Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka.
APC Endorses Ahmed Ododo as Successor
Current Governor Yahaya Bello, from the APC, is endorsing his successor Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, who he believes will take Kogi to greater heights. Bello highlighted his achievements during his tenure, including allocating 30% of the budget to education, improving security, and enhancing healthcare delivery. He also noted a significant increase in the state’s internally generated revenue from N250m in 2016 to N1.5bn now, among other achievements. Bello believes Ododo, being experienced and understanding the Kogi development process, will outperform him if elected.

PDP Banks on Senator Dino Melaye
The PDP, on the other hand, is banking on Senator Dino Melaye to restore development in the state. Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Chairman of the PDP Campaign for the Kogi State Governorship Election, urged the people of Kogi to unite and rescue the state. Adeleke expressed confidence that Melaye will bring positive change to the state, based on the PDP’s track record when in office.
SDP Candidate Expresses Confidence in INEC
Meanwhile, the SDP Governorship Candidate Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver a transparent election. Ajaka, who has dismissed allegations of running an Igala agenda, has vowed to work for the Kogi people and run a Kogi agenda if elected. He emphasized his readiness to follow INEC guidelines and expressed optimism about winning the election with the support of Kogi East people.

Keen Contest Expected
