PM Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar at Oxford Union

In a recent event, Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, had an engaging interaction with students at the Oxford Union, a prestigious university society known for hosting influential speakers. The Union President, Disha Hegde, moderated an interactive Q&A session that provided insights into Pakistan’s future on important national, regional, and global issues.

Peaceful Protest and the Upcoming Elections

PM Kakar emphasized the importance of peaceful protest as a fundamental right of every political party, clarifying that violent protests would not be tolerated. He assured that the upcoming elections in Pakistan would be fair, free, and transparent, with no specific group receiving favor or opposition at the administrative level.

Delimitation of Constituencies

Responding to a question about the delimitation of constituencies, the PM stated that it is a constitutional requirement. He noted that objections to this process could have been made during legislation in parliament, and he emphasized that the election commission would not commit an unconstitutional act.

Furthermore, he pledged that no foreign power would interfere in the country’s affairs.

The Role of Military in Government

Discussing the military’s role in the government, Kakar acknowledged that civil institutions had failed to perform effectively in the past four decades, necessitating military assistance in various matters. However, he stressed the need to enhance the capabilities of civilian institutions.
