The House of Representatives plenary has approved the proposal to summon Laura Sarabia, the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, to attend an information session aims to provide explanations regarding allegations of abuse of authority raised by Marelbys Meza, the former nanny of Sarabia's son.

The summons, which mandates mandatory attendance, includes not only Laura Sarabia, the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, but also Gerardo Avilan, the head of the presidential guard; General William Salamanca, the director of the National Police; Colonel Carlos Buitrago, the director of the Military House; and Augusto Rodríguez, the director of the National Protection Unit.

According to the congressman of Democratic Center opposition party, Oscar Villamizar, the proposal was unanimously approved without further discussion, demonstrating the collective commitment to inform the country about the potential abuse of power. The President of the Chamber is expected to schedule this information session for next week.

Likewise, the representative clarified that the summons for information is not intended as a political control debate. Instead, Sarabia and the other individuals called are expected to strictly answer a set of questions prepared by the congressmen. He further mentioned that he plans to utilize one of the sessions allotted to the opposition by statute for this debate. To ensure sufficient time for discussion on this significant matter, the congressman stated that he has communicated with the spokespersons and requested them to present a proposal in the House of Representatives.

In a recent development, the Attorney General's Office conducted a thorough investigation at the Nariño Palace following allegations involving Laura Sarabia, Petro's chief of staff. It is alleged that Sarabia granted permission for government officials to bring her former nanny, Marelbys Meza, to the basement of the Galan building within the presidential palace. The purpose was to administer three polygraph tests to ascertain whether Meza was responsible for a theft involving a silver briefcase that the official had reportedly lost in January of this year.
