Guillermo Lasso, president of Ecuador, arrived in Mexico to meet with Andrés Manuel López Obrador

To finalize a Free Trade Agreement and strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation Guillermo Lasso, President of Ecuador, arrived in Mexico to meet with President López Obrador.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, wrote through his Twitter account: “Cordial welcome to the President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso and his distinguished wife, María de Lourdes Alcivar. Mexico receives them with great appreciation”.

Lasso’s delegation includes the Ministers of Production and Foreign Affairs, Julio Prado and Juan Carlos Holguín, respectively, who have led the round of negotiations to achieve the trade agreement between the two countries.

The presence of the Ecuadorian president, who was originally scheduled to travel to Mexico to attend the XVII Summit of the Pacific Alliance, which was cancelled, coincides with that of his Chilean counterpart, Gabriel Boric.

On November 24, Lasso and López Obrador will hold a private meeting at the National Palace.
