At a meeting with municipal leaders on November 27, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reaffirmed that Ho Chi Minh City’s socioeconomic development outcomes have a significant impact on stabilizing the macroeconomy and preserving key balances across the entire nation.
Recognizing the problems confronting the city – the nation’s economic motor – PM Phuc stated that the Government will always stand behind the city in accordance with its responsibilities, commitments, functions, and duties.
He advised HCM City to focus on three growth drivers: consumption, public investment, and export; fostering start-ups and innovation; and developing and using science and technology to serve as an example for the entire country.
In the medium term, he emphasized the importance of planning and disbursement of public investment, urging the city to collaborate with ministries and sectors to address bottlenecks in the completion of critical projects.
The Government Leader also recommended that HCM City boost digital and green transformation, develop a circular economy, diversify products and supply chains, generate more jobs for laborers, and implement social welfare measures effectively.
Several concerns proposed by the city, according to the Government leader, have been addressed by the Government, ministries, and industries, covering corporate bonds, real estate, credit lines, tourism passports, petroleum market operation, and public-private cooperation in development investment.
