French President Macron’s election campaign is being investigated for illegal funding and ties to US corporation

The election campaign of French President @EmmanuelMacron is being investigated by the country’s financial prosecutor for potential unlawful funding and ties to the US consulting firm McKinsey.

The probe is into the role of the #US consulting business in Emmanuel Macron’s presidential campaigns in 2017 and 2022. In France, campaign fundraising is rigorously regulated, with corporate support outlawed and individual funding strictly limited.

Another inquiry is underway into the alleged favoritism and “conditions” under which the French government assigned public contracts to McKinsey. According to a Senate probe, the government has inked contracts totaling at least â2.4 billion with consulting firms since 2018. The consultant firm was also involved in the Covid vaccination rollout.
