The visit began with a dinner meeting at the Elysee Palace, where French President Emmanuel Macron's office stated that he intended to share France's "solidarity with Israel in the face of terrorism," while also emphasizing "the need for everyone to avoid measures likely to feed the spiral of violence."Macron has also offered to help restart long-stalled talks between Israelis and Palestinians.

Pro-Palestinian activists plan a protest in Paris on Saturday to protest Macron's decision to host Netanyahu at such a critical juncture in the Middle East conflict.

The demonstrators say they will also protest Israeli prison conditions for Palestinian militants, such as solitary confinement and restrictions on family visits.

Upon departing for France, Netanyahu stated that Iran and its nuclear program would be "the main topic of our conversation" when he meets Macron.

Macron has criticised Iran's lack of transparency regarding its nuclear activities and warned that Iran's support for Russia's war in Ukraine exposed Iran to further sanctions and growing isolation.
