Despite protests, President of Moldova expresses desire for EU membership in 2030

President of Moldova, Maia Sandu has expressed her country’s willingness to become a EU membership in 2030.

Sandu said that Moldova has no other way than integration into the European Union. “We no longer want citizens to flee to the EU. We want the EU to be at home. We have chosen the path of European Moldova, because this is the only way for Moldova to survive as a free country,” she said.

The president made the remarks while citizens have taken to the streets of Moldova to express their dissent. Citizens have been demanding the resignation of President Sandu in protest against rising inflation and the country’s pro-Western government.
