LDA Takes Action Against Illegal Constructions
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has intensified its operations against illegal constructions and commercial buildings in Gujarpura, Lahore, following instructions from the Commissioner Lahore and the Director-General of the LDA. The teams carried out operations in the area, sealing three properties and taking control of eight others. Property number 76B in Gujarpura was sealed due to violations against the approved plans, with the under-construction pillars also sealed. The under-construction pillars of properties number 435 and 435A in block B were likewise sealed. Eight shops at property number 1205B in Gujarpura were taken control of due to illegal commercial usage.
Operation against Illegal Commercial Activities
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Additional DG Housing, Captain (Retired) Shah Mir Iqbal, with Chief Town Planner Van Sidrah Tabassum and Director Town Planning Van Aisha Matahir. The properties that were sealed and taken control of had been issued multiple notices prior to this action. The Commissioner Lahore and DG LDA have stated that a full-fledged operation against illegal commercial activities and constructions throughout the city is ongoing.
Illegal Constructions and LDA’s Efforts
The LDA has also initiated inquiries against its officers and officials who acted as alleged facilitators and did not take action against the construction mafia. Illegal constructions cannot take place without seeking facilitation from within the authority’s Town Planning wing. This time, the newly-appointed Chief Town Planner Asad Zaman went one step ahead and called an explanation from two of his team members besides initiating an inquiry against illegal constructions, including Marriage Halls, Plazas, Marquees etc and illegal land use conversions carried out on Raiwind Road, Pine Avenue Road and Khyaban-e-Jinnah Road.
Crackdown on Unlawful Commercialization
As a result of their actions, a crackdown against unlawful structures and commercialization was started on 8 August under the direction of the Commissioner and Deputy Director of LDA. Six homes in Gulberg have been shut and partially demolished. These properties include “Third Culture”, Plot 101 Tipu Block in Garden Town, and the Daewoo Terminal linked to the unlawful commercial premises at Kalma Chowk.
Operations against Unauthorized Commercial Activities
The LDA teams are intensifying efforts against the issue of unauthorised constructions and illegal commercialisation across key areas of the city. Under the direction of Commissioner and LDA DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the operations target Ferozepur Road, controlled area, Avenue One, and Jubilee Town, with a firm commitment to curb such violations. In line with the city’s commitment to urban planning and development guidelines, LDA staff took decisive actions that included demolishing and sealing multiple illegal constructions. These operations aim to rectify unauthorised alterations, encroachments, and illegal commercial activities.
Ongoing Crackdown against Unauthorized Commercial Activities
Under the leadership of Commissioner and LDA DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the operations have been launched in areas including Ferozepur Road, Avenue One, and Jubilee Town. The LDA teams have taken actions, including demolishing and sealing multiple illegal structures. These operations aim to rectify unauthorized alterations, encroachments, and unlawful commercialization. The operation was supervised by Additional DG Housing, retired Capt. Shahmeer Iqbal, and executed by Director Town Planning VII, Syed Ali Abbas.
