Authorities Chasing MPV Operator Zooming Past Sepang Barriers and Toll Stations

High-speed Chase on Putrajaya Expressway
Police in Putrajaya, Malaysia, recently found themselves engaged in a high-speed chase with a Toyota Vellfire Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). The chase, which began in Cyberjaya, was initiated when the driver, asked to present his identification and driver’s license at a roadblock, instead accelerated away. The pursuit led the police down the Putrajaya Expressway and through several toll barriers, eventually ending in Banting.
Despite the driver and front passenger’s successful escape, police were able to apprehend two backseat passengers. The arrested individuals, a foreign couple aged 21 and 32, were discovered to be without valid travel documents, raising further questions about the incident.

Suspected Drug Possession
Upon searching the vehicle, the authorities found two packages containing crystals suspected to be Syabu, a type of methamphetamine. The total weight of the seized substances was about 103.61 grams. The discovery of the contraband has added a new layer of complexity to the investigation, prompting the involvement of the Narcotics Investigation Division of the Kuala Langat district police headquarters.
Investigation and Legal Implications
The case is currently being investigated under Section 186 and Section 279 of the Malaysian Penal Code. These sections deal with obstructing civil servants from carrying out their duties and reckless driving, respectively. Offenders found guilty of these crimes face possible prison time, fines, or both depending on the severity of the crime and the discretion of the courts.
Additionally, the possession of Syabu is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act. This particular offense carries an even more severe punishment—the death penalty. The combination of the high-speed chase, evasion of law enforcement, illegal immigration, and drug possession have made this case a high-priority investigation for Malaysian law enforcement.
