Clásico RCN Banco Agrario 2023: An Epic Duel of Titans on Wheels

The Return of a Historic Race
After an 18-year hiatus, North Santander capital is opening its doors once again to host the 63rd edition of the Clásico RCN Banco Agrario. Regarded as one of the most traditional and revered cycling races in the Americas, this event is set to kick off on September 23rd, featuring 202 competitors from 21 teams.
A Journey Across Colombia
Spanning nine stages, the race will run until October 1st, covering a total of 1,198 kilometers across various regions in Colombia. The first stage starts from Cúcuta, via Villa del Rosario, and back to North Santander, making up a 147-kilometer route. The event will traverse through North Santander, Santander, Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Risaralda, Caldas, Quindío, Valle del Cauca, and Antioquia, offering a myriad of emotions for both the participants and spectators.
First Stage: A Test of Speed and Precision
The inaugural route will take the cyclists through narrow city streets, demanding an extra level of caution to avoid collisions. Despite featuring two fourth-category mountain prizes, most of the course is flat, providing an advantage for sprinters or speedsters to compete for victory. The first stage will start from the Plaza de Banderas, taking the cyclists through the Rumichaca Bridge and the Casa de la Cultura.
A Tribute to Colombian Cycling Legends
In a nod to Colombian cycling history, tributes will be paid to the ten Colombian riders who participated in the 1983 Tour de France as part of the event. Each mountain prize will be named after these national riders, honoring their contributions to the sport.
Defending Champion Aldemar Reyes in the Spotlight
Aldemar Reyes, from Team Medellín, is gearing up to defend his 2022 victory. Accompanied by Spanish cyclist Óscar Sevilla as his main lieutenant, Reyes is poised to make a strong return to the podium this year.
Conclusion
The 63rd edition of the Clásico RCN Banco Agrario signifies more than just a race. It represents tradition, tribute, and competition, bringing together participants from diverse teams to compete in a challenging and varied landscape. As the race approaches, cyclists and fans alike are gearing up for what promises to be an exhilarating event. The Duel of Titans is back, and the world is ready to watch.
