Chinese experts have accused the United States of having ulterior motives in rejecting China’s proposed solution to the Ukraine conflict. They argue that the US is using Ukraine as a pawn to weaken Russia, fueling the conflict instead of promoting peace and dialogue.
This contrasts with China’s commitment to promoting peace and dialogue in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. President Xi Jinping is due to visit Russia from Monday to Wednesday, with expectations that the visit will advance peace. However, the Biden administration has expressed concerns over any proposals from China, claiming that they would only reflect the Russian perspective.
Despite the US’s rejection of China’s proposed solution, the upcoming visit of China’s top leader to Russia is widely expected to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Ukraine crisis and advance practical cooperation between China and Russia.
China’s rising influence on the global stage cannot be ignored, and experts argue that the US-led West is attempting to control Europe and weaken Russia. Cui Heng, an assistant research fellow from the Center for Russian Studies of East China Normal University, believes that “China’s role in promoting peace talks also shows the country’s rising influence as a major power, a development that the US cannot accept.”
China’s partnership with Russia is viewed as an instrument of peace, not war, and sets an excellent example for international relations. China has open communication channels with Saudi Arabia and Iran, and there are expectations that China will play a crucial role in the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.
