Bushenyi and Unra chiefs clash over the Mbarara-Ishaka road

Bushenyi District leaders have expressed their displeasure with the government and the Uganda National Roads Authority (Unra) about the deterioration of the Mbarara-Ishaka route. 

According to the leaders, the road has become a deathtrap for motorists, and countless calls to have it rehabilitated have fallen on deaf ears.

The mayor of Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, Mr. Richard Byaruhanga, stated that the public wanted better roads throughout a meeting between district leaders and Unra representatives on Wednesday.

Ms. Annet Katusiime Mugisha, the Bushenyi District Woman Member of Parliament, stated that motorists were suffering significant car maintenance costs due to the bad quality of the road.

Mr. Jafari Basajabalaba, the Bushenyi District Chairperson, stated that they had received a letter from Unra demanding that they provide machines to work on the Katarimwa site.
