Brazil’s Electoral Court may judge Jair Bolsonaro’s ineligibility this year

Former President Jair Bolsonaro is cited in 16 legal actions by the Electoral Court of Brazil that could make him ineligible for the next eight years.

There is a great expectation of the electoral court to judge the legal actions this year, between March and April.

The legal actions refer to attacks made by Jair Bolsonaro on the Brazilian electoral system, attacks on voting machines, and contesting the result of the presidential election.

Legal actions at the Electoral Court can receive evidence obtained in an administrative inquiry opened by minister Luiz Felipe Salomão last year.

There are irregularities involving the use of state TV for electoral campaigns, in addition to motorcycle tours organized by the former president during his term.
