Bahrain made an official announcement on Saturday, declaring its decision to resume diplomatic representation at the ambassadorial level with Lebanon. This move comes after a hiatus of one and a half years, as Bahrain seeks to strengthen the brotherly relations between the two nations. The Bahraini foreign ministry released a statement on its website, highlighting the importance of fostering closer ties with the Lebanese Republic.

Lebanese Prime Minister Expresses Appreciation for Bahrain's Decision

Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati warmly welcomed Bahrain's decision and expressed his gratitude. In a statement issued by the presidency of the Council of Ministers, Mikati acknowledged and appreciated the resumption of diplomatic relations, emphasizing the significance of the brotherly bond shared between Bahrain and Lebanon. He also took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the Gulf Cooperation Council member states for their support in providing employment opportunities for Lebanese nationals within their territories, both in the public and private sectors. Mikati expressed his hopes for the swift return of all Arab brothers to Lebanon, echoing sentiments he previously conveyed at the Jeddah summit.

During a consultation between Mikati and Lebanon's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdullah Bu Habib, both leaders recognized the importance of acknowledging this gesture by Bahrain and building upon it to further develop and strengthen bilateral relations between Lebanon and Bahrain. The presidency of the Council of Ministers confirmed this mutual understanding and expressed optimism about the prospects for enhanced cooperation between the two nations.
