Former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, has rebuked Governor Nasir El-Rufai @elrufai of Kaduna State for his recent comments about the outcome of the upcoming presidential election in Nigeria.
El-Rufai had proclaimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu @officialABAT, would win the election, regardless of the opposition he may face from certain elements in the Presidential Villa.
In response, Bafarawa criticized El-Rufai for assuming that the entire north would support the APC, and for being disrespectful to the people of the north and the nation as a whole.
The former governor stated that El-Rufai had no right to boast about the north, as everyone has their own preferred candidate. Bafarawa also warned that the outcome of the election would surprise those who are underestimating the diversity of the electorate.
In an interview, Bafarawa emphasized that the election would prove that the country and the north belong to everyone, not just a select few.
He concluded by saying that the people of Nigeria would demonstrate their independence and power through their choice at the ballot box.
