The Kitchen’s Not for Everyone: Colombian Celebrities Decline ‘Masterchef’ Invites
Not All Celebrities are Cut Out for the Kitchen
Masterchef, the popular reality TV cooking show, has seen an array of celebrities test their culinary skills in search of the coveted title of the best chef. However, not all celebrities are willing to don the apron and brave the heat of the kitchen. Colombian stars Laura Acuña, Kathy Sáenz, Alejandra Azcárate, José Gabriel, and ‘Lokillo’ have all recently declined invitations to participate in the reality TV show, each citing personal reasons for their refusal.
Laura Acuña Prefers to Stay Out of Competitive Environments
Presenter of Caracol, Laura Acuña, was candid about her reasons for declining the invitation to ‘Masterchef’. During an interview with Jorge Rausch, she expressed her belief that her culinary abilities were inadequate for the show’s competitive environment. Acuña prefers to stay away from such high-pressure situations, explaining that she isn’t fond of the competitive nature inherent in such reality shows.
Kathy Sáenz’s Vegan Lifestyle Poses a Challenge
Former beauty queen Kathy Sáenz also declined an invitation to the show. Sáenz has been a committed vegan for many years, and she voiced concerns that she would be required to taste and consume meat dishes during the show. Drawing on the experience of her fellow vegetarian actress, Carolina Gómez, who became ill after consuming meat on the show, Sáenz felt that participating could adversely affect her health.
Alejandra Azcárate’s Kitchen Mishap Deters Participation
Actress Alejandra Azcárate was invited to join ‘Masterchef’ on three occasions. However, she declined each time, attributing her refusal to her limited cooking skills. Azcárate shared that she had previously caused an accident in her kitchen during the quarantine period. This incident served as a clear indicator to her that she was not suited for the pressures of the show.

José Gabriel’s Limited Culinary Skills
TV host José Gabriel was invited twice to join ‘Masterchef’, but he also declined. Gabriel admitted that he had only recently mastered the simple task of boiling water. Given his limited culinary skills, he felt unprepared to undertake the challenging tasks required on the show.
‘Lokillo’ Uninterested in Reality TV Shows
Comedian ‘Lokillo’ declined an invitation to join the show, revealing a disinterest in participating in reality TV shows. He believes he can use his time more productively in other pursuits. However, he acknowledged the effort and dedication required by celebrities who choose to participate in such programs.
‘Masterchef’ has proven to be a platform where celebrities can showcase their culinary talents, or lack thereof, in a competitive environment. While many are willing to step up to the plate, others, like these Colombian celebrities, choose to bow out for various personal reasons. Nonetheless, the show continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of drama, comedy, and culinary competition.
