A Lavish Indonesian Wedding Sparks Social Media Frenzy

The extravagant wedding of Gwen Ashley and Ryan Harris, children of prominent Indonesian business figures, has become the talk of the town, going viral on social media. Held at the grandiose Westin Grand Ballroom in Surabaya on Saturday, 18th November 2023, the event was nothing short of a royal spectacle, with whispers of a staggering 75 billion rupiahs spent solely on decorations.
A Royal Affair to Remember
Taking on a royal wedding theme, the event lived up to its concept in every aspect. Not only was the venue adorned with opulence, but the guest list also comprised top artists, including global stars, thereby accentuating the grandeur of this sacred occasion. The attendees were treated to a live performance from Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, who performed the hit song ‘Never Enough’ by Loren Allred.
Extravagance Beyond Expectations
In a surprising twist, the couple requested guests to refrain from bringing envelopes and gifts. Instead, they gifted each attendee a luxurious Hermes plate, worth Rp3 million, a gesture that reflects the couple’s wealth and status in society. Furthermore, guests were provided with complimentary plane tickets and accommodation during their stay in Surabaya, further highlighting the lavish nature of the event.
Who is Ryan Harris?
The wedding’s splendor sparked curiosity about the groom, Ryan Harris. A prominent businessman from Surabaya, Harris is the only child of the CEO of AirAsia Indonesia and also holds the position of the CEO of PT Unichem Candi Indonesia, a company engaged in mineral and chemical processing in East Java. In 2018, the company invested $60 million USD in a new salt factory in Gresik, East Java. Their flagship product, Refina salt, uses advanced extraction techniques, making it the most widely used salt product in Indonesia.
