Over 6,300 US flights delayed on Sunday

According to data from the online flight tracker FlightAware, around 6,365 flights were delayed and 176 cancelled within, into or out of the United States through Sunday.

As per reports, this was due to a severe weather system that affected holiday travel in the United States. For the unversed, the Sunday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year.

There were 2,268,189 travelers logged at Transportation and Security Administration checkpoints on Saturday, more than in 2019 before COVID-19 began and any year since.

“We can’t stress this enough – plan ahead and arrive early if you’re traveling during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period,” officials with LG Airport in New York City said on Twitter.

“Budget extra travel time to arrive at LaGuardia, park in your reserved spot, check-in, and get through security,” they added.
