The Kayunga Town Council has begun closing stores that don’t have adequate sanitary facilities. By last Wednesday, 42 stores in Kayunga North Ward had already closed.
The municipal clerk, Ms. Faridah Kulabako, said that several of the impacted businesses had overflowing restrooms.
Since these are water-borne facilities, they [company owners] must provide water and re-empty the toilets. Additionally, they ought to give trash cans to every store, Ms. Kulabako stated last week.
Before beginning the operation, Ms. Kulabako continued, they had written letters to the landlords requesting that they set up the necessary sanitary facilities, but they had ignored their requests.
