Ugandan soldier shoots Congolese national in Kasese over illegal entry
A Congolese national was shot and injured by a Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier in Kisolholho Village, Karambi Sub County in Kasese District on Monday. The incident occurred when the victim crossed into Uganda through a porous border point, sparking a confrontation with the soldier who was on patrol duty. UPDF Soldier Opens Fire on Congolese National The victim, identified as Muhindo Muhindo, a resident of Kyondo Village in Beni Territory, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was allegedly shot in the chest by the UPDF soldier from the 5th Battalion Rusese. The soldier claimed that he fired in self-defense after the victim attempted to attack him with a machete. The victim was rushed to Bwera Hospital for treatment, where he is said to be in stable condition.
