Vladimir Rogov, another local source, reported that an Ukrainian strike targeted the city, allegedly hitting the railway depot. Fedorov described witnessing a "bavovna" (cotton) at the site, a term used to refer to the explosions resulting from Ukraine's attacks on Russian military infrastructure, such as ammunition depots.

In addition to the damage sustained by the railway depot, Fedorov reported that power outages had affected the northern and western districts of the city, as well as the nearby villages of Semenivka, Tambovka, and several other surrounding areas.

Melitopol, a city of approximately 150,000 residents in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, was occupied by Russia in late February, just days after the full-scale invasion commenced. The city is strategically located between Kherson and Mariupol, several kilometers north of the Black Sea coast.

As the conflict escalates, the situation in Melitopol remains tense, with the potential for further attacks and infrastructure damage posing a significant risk to the safety and wellbeing of the city's residents. The international community continues to closely monitor the situation, as efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis persist.
