The head of Ukraine’s presidential administration has stated that Russia will pay for a Soviet-era famine that killed millions of Ukrainians during the winter of 1932-33, as well as its actions in Ukraine’s current conflict.
Using the Ukrainian name for the disaster, Andriy Yermak wrote on Telegram, “The Russians will pay for all of the victims of the Holodomor and answer for today’s crimes.”
As per historians, In November 1932, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin ordered police to seize all grain and livestock from newly collectivized Ukrainian farms, including seed for the following crop.
Timothy Snyder, a Yale University historian, describes the subsequent months as being marked by “clearly premeditated mass murder” as millions of Ukrainian peasants starved to death.
