The German ambassador to Poland spoke on the transfer of the Patriots to Ukraine.

The chairman of the Bundestag’s European Affairs Committee assessed that Poland is right, because Germany should offer Patriots to Ukrainians, who are fired at by hundreds of missiles, rather than to relatively safe Poles. Of a completely different opinion is the German ambassador to Poland, who just stated: “These Patriots are part of NATO’s defense capabilities. It is simply not realistic to use them outside this area now.”
Germany has offered to transfer Patriot systems to Poland. Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that in the face of Russian attacks on Ukraine, the equipment would be more useful to the authorities in Kiev than to us.
Anton Hofreiter, chairman of the Bundestag’s European Affairs Committee, referred to Blaszczak’s proposal. In an interview with the media, the politician supported Warsaw’s proposal, deeming it “absolutely right.” He also pointed out that Patriot systems would be a good complement to the IRIS-T systems already supplied to Ukraine.
German Ambassador to Poland Thomas Bagger takes a different view. In his opinion, the transfer of Patriots to the Ukrainians is impossible.
He assessed that the Polish government is well aware of the difference between a territory that belongs to NATO and one that does not belong to the alliance.
He pointed out that the Patriots cannot be in Ukraine because “they have to be operated by German soldiers.” “That’s why the difference between the NATO area and anything outside its borders is so important,” he said.
