Taliban Claims Responsibility for Two Incidents Involving Women in Takhar
The Taliban security command in Takhar has announced two disturbing incidents involving women in the province.
Married Woman Commits Suicide in Yengi Qala District
According to their newsletter, a married 23-year-old woman named Tahira has allegedly consumed a lethal dose of “mouse death” in “Kaftar Ali” village in Yengi Qala district, resulting in her death. Sources confirmed that Tahira took her own life due to family issues and violence but no further details have been provided. The Taliban police have launched an investigation into the case.
Unidentified Armed Men Kill Woman in Talaqan
In another incident, a woman named Jamila that resided in the “Ass Bayan” area in the center of Talaqan was shot dead in her house by unknown armed men. The incident occurred around 4:00 am on Thursday, May 25.
The motive behind Jamila’s murder has not been determined yet. The Taliban police in Takhar have initiated a search and investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators behind the killing.
These two incidents have further created concern for women’s safety in the province. Cases of violence against women have steadily increased since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. Reports often depict a bleak future for women, with no proper address for them to claim their rights.
The provincial government has yet to make a statement regarding these incidents, causing more outrage on social media platforms. It seems like the situation of women’s security in the country is worsening day by day.
