Approtium, a South Korean hydrogen producer is targeting an offtake up to 500 000 tonnes of ammonia from Hyphen Hydrogen Energy based in Namibia.
Hyphen announced Thursday that it had signed ammonia offtake memorandums of understanding with Approtium. Hyphen is developing a green hydrogen project in southern Namibia.
Hyphen has recently signed another agreement with RWE Supply and Trading (RWEST) of Germany for the supply of up to 300 000 tonnes of green ammonia a year starting from 2027.
Hyphen is targeting annual production of one million tonnes of green ammonia by 2027.
The company plans to increase annual production to two million tonnes of green ammonia by 2029 for export to international markets, in addition to its commitments to supply and decarbonise energy within Namibia and the southern Africa region.
