The African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (the Commission) has asked Tanzania to ratify human rights instrument, but it still needs to do so.
These include the African Union Convention on the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights Protocol on the Rights of Older Persons.
The African Commission on Human and People’s Rights (AfCHPR) has traveled to Tanzania to promote human rights. It met with top officials from the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the East African Community Cooperation and listened to over 40 life stories.
The Commission applauded Tanzania’s efforts to protect the rights to life, dignity, and security of pastoral communities in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) and Loliondo Division, affected by an increase in Human-Wildlife Conflicts (HWCs).
According to Dr. Ogana, the mission’s report will be drafted by the delegation, presented to the commission for discussion and acceptance at one of its forthcoming meetings, and then sent to the Tanzanian government.
