China claims that a BBC reporter detained in protest did not identify himself as a journalist

China’s foreign ministry claimed on Monday that a BBC reporter who had been detained by police while covering protests in Shanghai had not identified himself as a journalist.
Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the ministry, stated that although they had taken note of the BBC’s report on the incident, it did not reflect what had happened.
