Portugal Among Lowest Salary Paying Countries In The European Union

In statistics released by Eurostat, Portugal is ranked among the top ten lowest annual salaries for workers in the EU.

Workers in Portugal earn an average annual salary of 19.3 thousand euros, compared to 33.5 thousand euros for citizens in the Union.

Luxembourg has the highest salaries, with an average of 72 thousand euros per year. The average salary in Spain is 28.2 thousand euros, which is significantly higher than the average salary in Portugal.
